GWTW - Favorite Character

Who is your favorite character and Why?

I have several favs that I identify with. Melanie for her kind behavior and demeanor; Scarlet for her brashness and toughness exterior. These 2 both showed qualities that I personally have experience with.

Scarlet has always wanted the best and wouldn't just settle for anything. Melanie, had a strength that wasn't really seen; it was the ability to always show kindness even to those who others shunned. She had the heart of gold and her confidence was overwhelming.

Justice

"Justice and the american way." These words, at one time were part of an icon of cartoon mania. Today they actually hold more deeper meaning for some. Justice? What is it really and who does it benefit? Some say there is no justice in the world today, while others have a different view. I guess it all depends on how each of us defines justice.

 

The American Way: What is it?
It used to be Hotdogs, baseball and Apple pie. Today, it's getting confusing. You have illegal immigrants demanding rights, while legal immigrants are now becoming feeling the rejection of these new problems.

 

When in rome do as the romans do. This statement should also apply to Americans, whether born here or recently made a citizen. Americans speak english as should everyone in this country, but illegal immigrants are now complaining that their language is being taken away. It seems that Americans are being stripped of their culture and beliefs and now being forced to learn new languages in order to stay. What happened to coming to America for a new life?

 

It only makes sense that if you plan on moving to a new country that properly learning the "main" language is imperative for survival. It seems english is being phased out..

Try calling for technical support or other political or important call... Instead of a prompt asking you to press 1 for spanish or other languages, you now have to press 1 for English...

 

Shouldn't English be the main language of these automated systems and all others be required to prompt?

 

I predict that one day, no one in America will be able to understand anyone else and life will be secluded and segregated from all....

Today isn't a great day but I'll muddle through it. I so hate the school systems out here. They are intrusive and invasive. They need to stop harrassing parents of their parenting methods.

It's no wonder children today are more capable of committing crimes then those with stricter parents. Seems you can't even spank a child's bottom without it being considered as abuse.

Parents should never be afraid of their children. Children should in fact be afraid of their parents, very afraid even...

Ok that's my rant for today. A done deal. Can't wait til this year gets over with...

Truth

Truth is finally known and now rumors can be put to rest. Though I doubt apologies will come my way, it's enough to know I was right and not making up things. It doesn't even matter if the others ever come forward to admit their assumptions were totally wrong, but I know they are eating their words, especially since physical written proof is now in public. Ha, I say, once again I have proven my justice.

I laugh at those who insulted my validity, my intelligence, and my honor. They will never win when it comes to truth, justice, and the american way. HA HA

With tons of discussions in other groups about certain issues, I find it necessary to state my views.

 

It has been posted that a Disney movie is slated to be released on DVD for the first time. Song of The South, a cartoon depicting the south is now being changed or have some sort of explanation being added so as not to offend some. Well, I do have the original VCR version of this film and would be greatly interested to see what changes if any they will make to this. It's only from an adult's point of view that this movie like so many others in its time are being scrutinized for being un politically correct. Children have no idea about slavery or it's implications, nor do they understand the effect it's had on some of their adult relatives. They merely want to enjoy a movie. Why can't we just let them watch something without having to read more into a movie?

 

Just because adults may find something offensive to them in a G-rated move, many children don't even understand or know what the hidden aspects are referring to.

 

Too many people now adays are trying to twart responsibility unto the government instead of to their own homes. A movie is no more threatening as a fallen banana peel. You just have to watch where you step is all.

 

Look at some of the cartoons airing today. Some have no content whatsoever and are just a bunch of glibberly junk. The cartoons in my day actually had teaching capabilities.

 

Ok, I've said my peace on this. and though very tired, I have to leave for work in less than an hour. geeesh.

Today I'm going on a small cruise with my mom. Not sure what to expect but I'm sure it's calming effect will be well worth it.

 

I love hearing the splash of water slap against a rock.

It's soothing sounds keeps the fear and the stress blocked.

Watching the water rippling cross the lake clears my mind.

It releases all the dreams and creativity my heart can find.

Nothing is more gentle and calm then a slow moving river.

Dreams are such that not even life can find a sliver.

 

Off to my haven of water carressing my inner being.

Scanning the information just takes too much time to do so at this time I won't scan the proof. But I have been diagnosed with Sacroilitis in regard to my hip. I have to take Motrin 600 3x's a day. My stomach doesn't like that much pain medicine. In addition to that I have to go for physical therapy which includes:

• Stretching
  

Therapeutic Exercise

• Strengthening

Modalities as needed

• Heat ~ [1.0 - 1.5 Watts/?? to  (R) SI] I have no idea what that means but it's how it is written on the script.

I have to make a appointment for this tomorrow, hopefully I'll remember to or get the nerve to.

Now here's where the pain is located. It starts at my right hip travels over to the left but isn't as severe as the right side. Then it starts to travel down the right leg stopping just above the knee. Rarely does it go below that point.

But to you give you an idea how painful this is.... I'd rather give birth to a set of sextuplets all at once. sextuplets (6 full sized babies).

So would you like to have my hip pain? Most of my anger over the other incident can very well also include "pain anger" as well.

The Return of Doctor Who! Trust me when I say this is the longest running TV show in history. It started back in 1963. I discovered it in the mid 80's and watched it religiously. It's set in a time travel machine called the Tardis which is an old fashioned phone booth. The doctor regenerates (The reason the change of actors every so often in the title role) into different personas. Now going on it's 40th year. (It was in fact cancelled in 1989 but is now making a comeback.) Can't wait til they start showing it back in America again. I used to love that show! Sometimes a movie or TV show comes about that leaves you with a bit of sadness. Not because the storyline was sad or depressing but because it spelled of a dream that you wish would be yours. Here will be my first posted story of dreams and ideas spoken as if the character is the one writing this:

"When you look at how things occur in life you wonder where you fit in. You wonder why somethings happen the way they do."

Walking along through the park on this bright cool sunny day, almost spelled of a far away island where you were the lone resident. It was quiet and calming. Nothing to fear and no worries. It was one of those days where you could almost imagine yourself in some sort of ancient history where ladies were ladies and men were men. All the hustle and bustly of the big city seemed non existant. Deeper and deeper into my thoughts I slid, happily dreaming a walking dream...

With parasol in hand in this early spring, I watched as the birds above sang their happy song, fluttering about their daily routine. If only life had been this easy, to be as the birds of heaven hanging their heart just whereever they please. Taking trips in the winter to the warm southern weather of the tropics. I've often wished I, myself was a bird, flying off into the sunset like some heroic cowboy on his faithful stallion.

Today was almost like any other day except this time it was different. I could not quite place my finger on it but something was not quite right. Shortly after passing the happy bluebirds, I noticed that the Marina was not as busy as usual. In fact there was absolutely no one in sight. This was highly unusual for this time of year for many would be getting their boats ready for picnics and carnivals. Washing down sails and getting things in top shape for Mardi Gras. Yet, today there was complete silence, not even laughter of children running along the piers, dangling their feet in the cool water below.

Further up the path, was even more unusual events. In the middle of the park was this awesome fountain of a mermaid upon a rock where the basket on her head overflowed with water trickled down into the pond glittering among the coins that wishes were made of. Today, however, there were no coins in the pond twinkling in the suns rays. In fact, the water wasn't even flowing. I stopped and thought for a moment and wondered what the problem was. This has never happened before and it was quite a shock.

Finally, towards the end of the park a crowd had gathered, not the usual happy carefree crowd you would expect on a day like this but more of a mob. An angry, fighting crowd. What has happened to this quiet serene town? Why all the fighting? I stepped in closer to hear the commotion.

I must stand my ground. Letting others intimidate me or bully me just don't make things right. Feelings get hurt and some people just don't care. They think they are superior and try to make them seem big shots. I can't allow myself to take pity on people like this.  I can't allow my feelings to get in the way of my esteem. I won't feel sorry for a person whose only purpose is to make a person's life miserable. If they are truly sincere they won't be on the defensive. They will talk with their heart and realize that people can easily be hurt with just words.

It's nearly Thanksgiving which means Christmas isn't too far behind. This is going to be another of those not ready years I think. I'm planning on taking a Candian trip next month, perhaps I can finally be a lil happy around the holidays. I can't wait to leave. Plans are being made now... Hurry... I wan't to gooo!

This has been a frustrating 24 hours.

First, friday morning was the last day of Bible camp for my little angel and yet her father refused to let her go.

It was quite worrysome and an angry,sad situation.

However; as usually follows such bad events, good things occur when she was indeed allowed to come for a nightly movie at the park....and a weekend of fun filled activities.

Well here we are in June..... Warm weather should be coming soon.... I now have PSP8 which is a program for making siggies and such. I also bought new memory for my puter and hopefully will have installed soon....

Alot has happened in the past month both online and at home/work....... I won't bore you with the details.... but things are much busier.

Soon I'll have a new web cam/camcorder!

Seems this is going to be a sad year!!

So far I've been to 2 funerals one of which was of my Father the other a well liked Priest from my childhood days!

Right before these funerals a Wedding had taken place!

Is that a bad sign or is that a good..... 2 lives joined together in heaven and 2 lives joined together in love!

Such is the wonders of life!!

Just wanted to touch base on the purpose of this group!

 

The purpose of this group is to unite former MSN chatters, the original "Detroit Adults" chatroom, as well as keep in touch with friends from the original Detroit Friends group.

 

This is NOT a dating service. While many have met their significant others online, or via this particular group. We do not offer a 'specific' dating service.

Posts such as "Looking for woman for a good time" is prohibited within this group. Most of our members already know each other and have met at scheduled chat parties.

 

This group is to simply meet new friends and connect with old ones. You may wish to attend one of the chat parties when they are posted to meet people in a public setting for friendships, etc. However, again we are NOT a dating service and advertising for such on these boards is not recommended.

Reasons for keeping your E-mail addy hidden in MSN Groups:

 

Ever wonder why some groups require you to hide your e-mail address?

 

Some may thing why should I? or How am I supposed to get mail from the group, etc.?

Well here are a few reasons:

1. Spammers/bots - These are not real people as some may think but bots that harvest your e-mail addy to send you advertising for some adult items, or for some quick rich scheme or other nonsense type item. Or, to even infect you with a virus or two. Be very careful of opening any attachments from your e-mail.

Stalkers, Pediofiles, offenders, etc.- These are real people whose only purpose is to threaten, harrass and cause undue stress on you or your child. These are dangerous preditors regardless of where you live. Some of these may even be hackers and all they need is your e-mail addy and a few pieces of info to mess up your life.

Hackers - Though they are along the same lines as stalkers, they're only purpose is to mess up your internet. They don't want to stalk you or even harm you personally. They are just amused when you go online to find everything gone. They don't care about the countless of memories you might have stored in your e-mail accounts or on your computer. Also and the main reason MSN groups want you to hide your e-mail addy is they can delete your MSN group, remove important pages, hijack your account and post messages under your account that will cause your members to lose trust in your leadership.

Personal safety - any reason not listed above but important enough to protect yourself from unwanted mail. Credit card fraud, account hacking, not just e-mails but bank accounts and other important info.

There is plenty more reasons why you should hide your e-mail address from everyone except those you truely trust. Play it save and hide your addy!

Many software companies are becoming stricter in how their software is protected. They are now enabling encoding in their download links, making a customer activate a product before using it, tracking IP addies to ensure the product is only being used on 1 computer, and so on.

 

Downloading a product that you didn't purchase is illegal and if caught can get you into serious trouble. What you do in your own homes is your choice.

 

In this group, no mention of illegal software, how to obtain them, and/or where to get them will be allowed. This will be a basis for loss of membership priviledges. This is to protect our members from viruses that may be infecting these pirated versions and to protect us from getting shut down.

 

This will be kept as a permanent reminder of what is not allowed here and how we will deal with the issue... Thanks for listening.

Info on Copyrights

I'm gonna start a series of messages that are to remain permanent to this thread. This will be the first...

 

Copyrights: Not many realize the importance of copyright material. You may think that it only applies to movies, books, and the like. However, this is not the case. It actually applies to anything that is created by 1 person or organization. Even online and the internet are subject to laws regarding copyrighted works.

 

For this I will give my own synopsis of what copyright is as it pertains to the internet. Anything you create, whether it be a web set, web page, graphic/image, poem, is copyrighted to the original creator upon its inception.

 

Graphic usage: Every clipart, every graphic found on the internet is NOT public domain as some may believe. Someone, first had to create that image. These images then belong to the original creator and therefore are copyrighted to them. You can be sued for using artwork, clipart without permission. Some websites have a Terms Of Use page regarding the use of images taken from them. Read these carefully. If the site is of an original artist, make sure you read these Terms thoroughly and follow them. If you're unsure about usage and need more clarification, e-mail the artist directly. Most have a contact page for you to do this.

 

Don't steal graphics from a site, any site. Unless that site specifically states you can use all graphics without credit, always assume that you must ask for permission first.

 

There are some web sites who in fact are violating copyrights, always use caution.

 

Cliparts: These can be confusing at best. Always look for and read the fine print of every site you find them on.

 

Things that you create yourself, whether they be graphcs, name banners, pages, etc. are copyrighted to you. You can in fact claim copyright to these. However, know that everything must have been created by you. Even the backgrounds used for your web pages must be created by you in order to claim copyright to them. You can copyright the page as being created by you but not the backgrounds used if they're not really yours.

 

Fair Use Law: This can be a bit of a problem for some groups should they try to use disclaimer. First off, fair use does not include graphics copyright to someone else if permission from that artist hasn't been obtained first. Also fair use is also exclusive to educational institutions or other such organizations that are merely using the artwork to display or to show steps in creating that exact artwork. Fair use DOES NOT apply to taking a piece of artwork, removing the background (called tubing), placing it on a separate background, and then putting your name on it. This is not considered fair use. Groups use fair use to try to get away with using illegal images, which they soon find does not work.

 

Google "Copyrights" to find out more information including the legal side of and what can happen if you continue to use illegal works which you didn't have permission to use.
