With tons of discussions in other groups about certain issues, I find it necessary to state my views.
It has been posted that a Disney movie is slated to be released on DVD for the first time. Song of The South, a cartoon depicting the south is now being changed or have some sort of explanation being added so as not to offend some. Well, I do have the original VCR version of this film and would be greatly interested to see what changes if any they will make to this. It's only from an adult's point of view that this movie like so many others in its time are being scrutinized for being un politically correct. Children have no idea about slavery or it's implications, nor do they understand the effect it's had on some of their adult relatives. They merely want to enjoy a movie. Why can't we just let them watch something without having to read more into a movie?
Just because adults may find something offensive to them in a G-rated move, many children don't even understand or know what the hidden aspects are referring to.
Too many people now adays are trying to twart responsibility unto the government instead of to their own homes. A movie is no more threatening as a fallen banana peel. You just have to watch where you step is all.
Look at some of the cartoons airing today. Some have no content whatsoever and are just a bunch of glibberly junk. The cartoons in my day actually had teaching capabilities.
Ok, I've said my peace on this. and though very tired, I have to leave for work in less than an hour. geeesh.
